MTV broadens use of Web with slate of new shows
This month the network launched "FNMTV", which airs new videos every Friday night and invites viewers to go online to comment on them and upload their reinterpretations at MTV.com.
MTV has used a similar strategy in limited ways on past programs such as "America's Best Dance Crew" and "The Real World: Hollywood." But "FNMTV" is the first show to employ user-generated video as part of its format, and MTV plans to broaden the strategy to other programs as well.
The network plans to pair viewer-generated content with upcoming programs such as "G's to Gents," "America's Best Dance Crew Season 2," and "Paris Hilton's My New BFF."
"There was a time when the music video itself is what happened in culture, but now it's the music video and what everyone has to say about it that is what's happening," said Brian Graden, president of MTV programming.
When it launched in 1981, MTV revolutionized the music industry. Artists were suddenly expected not only to record albums and perform, but also dance and sing on video.
Over the years MTV, a unit of media conglomerate Viacom Inc, evolved away from showing only videos and put greater emphasis on reality TV, game shows and other programming.

Although White Zombie received about of the recognition for commixture tales of sexual practice, Satan, and gore with a rock/dance beat (although true with more of a heavy metal edge), Chicago's My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult specialised in standardised district for just as long. Originally formed in 1987 by Buzz McCoy (wHO had latterly relocated from Boston) and Groovie Mann, the duo sought to make a worthy musical accompaniment that could be used as a soundtrack to rubbishy B-movies. The duo's initial fancy was to make a motion picture (in the style of Russ Meyer and John Waters) to be named "My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult." The flick never got sour the run aground, but McCoy and Mann used the aborted movie's deed of conveyance for the name of their just-formed mathematical group, as their sinful stage show was best described as "sensory overload" (featuring a revolving door of weird characters, props, and intense visuals). Signing on with Chicago's renowned industrial dancing label Wax Trax!, the Thrill Kill Kult issued several releases between 1989 and 1991: a self-titled EP, plus the full-lengths I See Good Spirits and I See Bad Spirits, Kooler Than Jesus, Confessions of a Knife, and Sexplosion!
By this time, the group had attracted the attention of Interscope Records, which sign-language up the Thrill Kill Kult and reissued Sexplosion!, which had spawned peradventure the group's best-known song, "Sex on Wheelz" (the track would as well be featured in music director Ralph Bakshi's animated picture Cool World). The group only issued one more release for Interscope, 1994's 13 Above the Night, earlier switch to the Rykodisc tag and issue such farther releases as 1995's Attain & Run Holiday (a concept album of sorts, which told the tarradiddle of a "rebellious hellcat," Krystal Starlust, and her "fatal attraction" to a vagrant named Apollo) and 1997's Crime for All Seasons.
The Thrill Kill Kult failed to topic any new studio recordings from 1998 through 2000, spell a collection of 18 remixes, Dirty Little Secrets, saw the light of day in 1999. But, by 2001, the band had reappeared once more, issuance 2001's The Reincarnation of Luna and 2002's Golden Pillz: The Luna Remixes for so far another new record judge, Invisible. In 2004 the Ryko tag acquired most of Wax Trax!'s releases, including early albums from the Kult. That same year they reissued the band's first base trey albums and released a new compilation, The Best of TKK, along with a set of remixes named Diamonds & Daggerz. An album dedicated to the disco earned run average that had sat on the shelves for a decade last saw the light of day in 2005 when Festal, Black & Married hit the shelves. Two long time subsequently the lounge-styled Filthiest Show in Town appeared.
In addition to their own releases, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult has contributed tracks to respective picture soundtracks, including Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls, Greg Araki's Nowhere, and the reach jerk The Crow (in the latter of which the group made a cameo visual aspect); and over the days, has toured with such renowned (and similarly styled) bands as Siouxie and the Banshees, Lords of Acid, EMF, and Marilyn Manson.

Supermodel seeks Jerry Springer's advice
Kate Moss is seeking advice from Jerry Springer.
Kate, 34, has been talking with the US TV talk show host while he has been in London.
The pair have been meeting at the Dorchester hotel where Kate has been discussing her fears for her friend, actor Rhys Ifans, who recently split with Kate's rival Sienna Miller.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "She's got a lot on her mind and she tends to take on her friends' problems and concerns as well.
"Jerry has patiently listened to her worries and given her some sterling advice. Instead of hating Sienna for upsetting her friend, Kate has managed to see things from her perspective and has calmed down about the whole, sorry affair.
"This unlikely therapy has turned her into a new woman."
Kate was said to be "beside herself" after learning of the split between Rhys and Sienna, as it reminded her of her own painful separation from troubled rocker Pete Doherty last year.
In the aftermath of the break-up, Rhys stayed at Kate's house to seek her advice about what to do.
Kate previously warned Sienna she would "have an enemy for life" if she hurt Rhys.

Formed in Madrid, Spain, La Quinta Estación established themselves ab initio in Latin America, especially Mexico, where their irregular album, Flores de Alquiler (2004), spun off legion hits and set the tilt en español outfit on a agile course to stardom. Comprised of vocalizer Natalia Jiménez, guitarist Ãngel Reyero, and bassist Pablo DomÃnguez, La Quinta Estación (aka La 5ª Estación) stirred from Madrid to Mexico after transcription their debut record album, Primera Toma (2002). They didn't delight much winner with that record album, unluckily, and in the year to survey, they worked hard to discover terms inside the Latin pop field, tributary songs to soundtracks, viz. Clase 406 (2003) and Dame Tu Cuerpo (2003), as well as a tribute album, Tributo a los Hombres G (2002). Their Clase 406 contribution, "Dónde Irán," previously released on Primera Toma, earned a lot of attention as nonpareil of the popular Mexican telenovela's motif songs. This foot-in-the-door prepare the stage for their second record album, Flores de Alquiler, which was so a major breakthrough, spawning quadruplet pop hits: "El Sol No Regresa," "DarÃa," "Algo Más," and "Niña." The album's success carried o'er into 2005 as well as 2006, as the group took the liberty of transcription and cathartic an together CD/DVD, Acustico (2005), that fundamentally was an "unplugged" take on Flores de Alquiler. Acustico tided over the band's sizable fan base until the tone ending of El Mundo Se Equivoca (2006) and its track single, "Tu Peor Error."

Foals call Glastonbury crowd ?mythical?
Wow, theres so many of you, said frontman Yannis Philippakis, From up here it looks mythical. As they played a raucous version of Cassius their intricate math-rock music suddenly seemed anthemic, and the crowd bounced accordingly.
Rain briefly lashed down and Yannis declared, We havent brought any wellies. Bad move. Not that the crowd minded as Hummer and Red Socks Pugie helped shrug the rain off.
Leaving to one of the best receptions of the day, Yannis felt moved to say, Youve made this very special for us. Thank you.
